There certainly is a difference between people who love a particular sport, and want to reach the highest levels, and people who just love their dogs and like to play with them. It is believed that there are a number of reasons why folks may move away from pit bulls in their chosen sport. And probably that it's a fairly specific population of people who may have started a sport(s) with a pit bull and have found something that they really, really like to do. There's a whole 'another sub-set of folks that do a sport because the dog likes it and can literally take it or leave it. So , that being said it is 2 main reasons. 1 - There is a serious lack of titled/tested pit bulls out there being bred. It is believed that first off, anyone who may be breeding athletic pit bulls with testing and titled are few and far between AND they aren't out, loud and proud about it. 2 - People like what they see and know. When you devote a large amount of time and money to one or two sports you immerse yourself in that community. and you get to know people and dogs and you form an opinion about what you want to have in your next dog. pit bulls are still very rare in sports circles. It's much easier to see a breed that's more prevalent and a breeder or two that have a number of dogs competing in your chosen venue.
