UKC struggled for own life as registering body only for APBT. UKC also offered standardized rules of dog fighting and approval of official arbiters. Early UKC even suggested a title “pit-champion” for every dog, which won 3 or more official battles. Many dog breeders as before went on concealing pedigree documents of their dogs and then UKC had to initiate own records for hunting dogs. These dogs were invited as workers. At the same time in USA only one alternative was available: AKC that was interested just in dogs bred on the basic of their appearance. After Bennett’s death in 1936 his daughter and nephew assumed charge of the business. With the passing of the years UKC began changing its attitude to both dog fighting and also events that had to do with this fighting. Magazine UKC BLOODLINES which from the date of foundation was designed as a magazine reflecting dog fighting; later on advertisements containing any kinds of hints at this show were excluded from the magazine. Now UKC claims that is going to cut any person to be noticed as a participant in dog fighting from membership for term of life. 38 years after UKC set about to register APBT, some breeders from UKC, who wished to avoid inevitable contact with dog fighting that was of current interest at that time in UKC, petitioned AKC (American Kennel Club) for registration of their dogs. AKC delivered a judgment as for introduction of its own pedigree books on APBT registered in UKC for some time, but in addition it was decided to change breed title taking away the word “Pit” from it. In 1936 AKC recognized APBT as Staffordshire terrier. And one of the first dogs with dual listing (as APBT and Staffordshire) was PETE PUP known as a personage of famous comedy “Our gang”. Since that period certain lines of APBT with dual listing existed (registered both AKC and UKC). AKC started its pedigree books for the dogs registered in UKC again in 1972 and then closed them down finally. The dogs belonging to UKC are not allowed to be registered in AKC anymore, but UKC still leaves the dogs to be registered as pit bull terriers in UKC. It is evident that UKC began to assign the title PR( Purple Ribbon) to nicknames of the dogs over 6 generations(126 progenitors)registered in UKC in order to improve the credibility of membership within UKC organization. This nickname prefix can be given to any pit bull terrier, without regard to its bloodline, which was born in UKC and has (as said above) certain number of relatives that are members of this organization.
