In 1898 the first club on breeding of the pit bull terrier was organized. It was named as United Kennels Club (UKC) and many owners of fighting dogs felt anxiety as for the purity of the breed and therefore, began to enter it. This club is still in operation. It promotes the breeding of fighting dogs but draws up just the only breed - the American pit bull terrier, not placing emphasis on Staffordshire terriers. However, pedigrees of this club are not recognized.
In 1909 some of the breeders who were members of UKC broke away and formed their own institute with title “American Dog Breeders Association” (ADBA). Afterwards, the association became international. There were enregistered all the representatives of the breed Pit Bull Terrier from every corner of the globe. As well the organization held competitions of pit bulls and engaged in educating of the dog owners, thus aiming at preservation and prosperity of the breed, which remained officially unrecognized for long time......to continue reading this article please click on here...
