Round or ellipse-shaped, dark, deep-set, widely spaced. Small triangular eyes are recognized as deformity. Availability of pink eyelids is abnormality as well.
The skin should be thick and loose, but without rugae. It must look as if to fit all the body apart from the neck and chest. Just there vertical sentinel piles can form even in dogs having good battle shape.
Ears
The standard says almost nothing as for the ears of the dog. It is unknown, whether they must be hanging, elevated or erect, cut short or not. Of course, one can meet a breeder, who will take up the position that natural ears perform protective function, but there can be another breeder who will be arguing that cut short ears prevent from being taken by them by the contestant. However, in fact, all this matters very little. Whether the ears are to be cut short or not is up to the dog’s owner.
Tail
In accordance with the standard it is relatively short, low-set, elevated to the back level, not cut short. Its position is not to be above the back. The tail, incurved to the back, like in huskies, is an abnormality; with cut short tail the dog will not be admitted to the benches, as well as the dog is not able to coordinate its movements when fighting.
The tail configuration is of great importance. It must be thick at the bottom and converge almost to point at the end.
Coat and color
Coat: short, tight, stiff, bristly. The gloss of coat is usually the evidence of dog’s health and very important characteristic for fighting pit bulls. Â
Color: self-colored or tigrine, partly colored, russet and as well skewbald and maculate. Undesirable colors are: absolutely white or white, covering more than 80 % of body surface and also tan or liver.
