Nowadays as many decades ago, when buying a dog with pedigree certificate of UKC an owner of APBT can see the prefix PR added to nickname of this dog. It is a mistake that designation PR (Purple Ribbon) symbolizes top-grade dogs. Since the designation itself came into existence long before prohibition on dog fighting and some famous fighters of the past had identical prefix in their nicknames. There are some dogs with such nicknames: PR Coyote Willy, Storytimeās This Budās For U (was registered as Amstaff/ Am. Pit), Romanās Brutus (was also registered in ADBA) and some others. All of them were very often used in breeding but perhaps Coyote Willy had the most number of puppies. Dog pedigrees of UKC contain dog lines of fighting kennels; breeders have never aimed to breed show-lines of pit bulls (because this notion does not exist within the breed at all!!). In some country pit bulls with UKC pedigrees were mated with dogs of different lines including the dogs of ADBA breed lines, therefore today we can see their presence in pedigree of many pit bulls. It is no use to say about some developing pure line of UKC dogs because these dogs have already ādisappearedā among stronger bloodlines long ago. Progenitors of Coyote Willy, as well as Brutus and the other UKC dogs were shown at the benches and these dogs participated in competitions. Such situation is with reference to pit bulls in USA. Today we have short correspondence with breeders of pit bulls in USA, some of them have the dogs registered in UKC. As for our question of show-lines, the answer that there are no any distinct boundaries for determination of pit bullsā show-lines, because pedigree of many dogs (everywhere: in some country or USA) contains the dogs of different breeding. And none of the lines can be strictly referred to a show-direction. Especially today, when carrying out of official fighting competitions in USA is forbidden by law and pit bulls are used for various purposes. Many breeders from UKC engage in benches with their pets but they are much more interested in competitions on training and multiple testing of pit bulls which ones are held in USA often and their number is considerable. They do not characterize their dogs as show but primarily as dogs- generalists, that are suitable for both show and any other job. There are three organizations in the USA with which the destiny of APBT is tightly connected. It is AKC, ADBA, UKC. The dogs (APBT) of many breeders were registered in these organizations and many lines of pit bull terriers are closely bounded between each other. There are some examples. So, kennel RUFFIANās managing Staffordshire terriers started its activity with breeding American pit bulls BRODWAYāS JONES & SCHROEDERāS MUGGINS (which was registered in UKC first and later had registration in AKC).
