The Tac-black leather dog harness has a padded breast plate to cushion the dog when it hits the end of the line while doing protection work.
The dogs need this cushion to absorb some of the shock of a tie out.
This breast plate causes too much of an air flow restriction to be used in long police or Search/Rescue tracks or working.
Tac-Black Leather Padded Tracking Harness for Pitbull
The Tac-Black Leather dog harness does not restrict the air flow of the pet in any way.
This is an extremely important feature on a tracking dog harness during long tracks where the dogs need all the help they can get.
The dogs need this cushion to absorb some of the shock of a tie out.
General "Woof" Tip: Is your dog still a puppy? Well I always recommend to get one of our economic solution products. We make very nice low price good quality leather collars, muzzles and harnesses. With muzzle I would recommend to wait until dog fills in, the only exception is when your dog has some behavior or aggression issues which must be solved instantly. Please note, that when you get some products while your dog is not fully grown, it might lead to the situation when your dog will outgrow a muzzle, harness or a collar. This is why it is preferable to provide age and breed of your dog when you place the order.
There are some really good posts on what to expect during the adoption process. Now what many are wondering what they should expect as far as the dog getting used to the new home. Past experiences of most dog handlers have always been with puppies and normally with other dogs in the home to kind of help out with showing the new dog the ropes so to speak.
For example you are going to get the dog that has been in foster for a long time. It can be expected that it would be a major transit for the dog. Going from a foster home with other dogs and more people to a home with no other dogs and only one person(who is probably a lot different then the foster family) one would think could be hard for the dog to adjust to.
What are the best ways to combat the home sickness the dog is apt to have?
Is it better to give the dog almost constant attention in the beginning or give the dog time and space to get a feel for the place on her own?
Would it be better to play it close to home in the beginning or try to get out and see as much new stuff for the dog as possible(like going to dog friendly stores, walking in the park etc)?
How soon should one start working on training?
Without doubt there are many other issues when bring the dog home that one haven't thought of, so any more ideas are more then welcome.
One may expect:
- the dog possibly to refuse food or eat very little for a few days, even up to a week to two weeks.
- diarrhea and shyness.
Don’t expect:
- its true personality to shine for at least three weeks.
Don’t bring it to many new places people or things at first.
For the first two weeks, work on just you and him/her. One on one. This helps establish that you are "the savior" so to speak, you are the one that he can TRUST. This is the building time. Just you and him. If the dog is shy or nervous offer food by hand piece by piece at first. This builds , like a momma dog calm trust and of course yummy food. Use the kibble or even yummy treats. Let the dog know you are the one baby!
Think of your dog as a new puppy who has to relearn all about life again.
