Behavioral Therapy, when performed with a canine behavior professional or experienced trainer can help gain control over unwanted behavior. This can often include Desensitization, Protocols (controlled exposures in increasing doses to situations or stimuli that cause anxious behavior). Redirection or cognitive Therapy - similar to behavioral Therapy it aims at replacing unhealthful and unproductive behavior patterns with behaviors that can improve the animal’s quality of life. This is much more difficult to implement than it sounds and identifying a proper redirected behavior can be a challenge in itself.
