Management of newborn puppies
Puppies in the house, especially when there are a lot of them, give their owners endless troubles. First days after their coming into the world are very hectic as the newborns need a lot of attention. The owner should possess himself and give a lot of love and attention to the newborns. If maternal passages in female are infected during labor her puppies may die of blood poisoning right after their drawing the first breath. As a rule the puppies, that come up first, are subject to this, whereas the last are born healthy. If this happens, the puppies should be immediately separated off; it is necessary to begin bringing up it by hand or attach to another lactating female. Sick mother should be examined by a veterinarian. Despite deafness and blindness of newborn puppies, their smelling is up-to-the-mark: they immediately seek their mom by her smell and crawl toward her to find her dugs themselves. From the first days of life the puppies begin fighting for the milkiest dugs- back ones. The puppies can hear already on 3-4 day of their birth. First diseases may come up the puppies during the time: infection penetrates their body at the time of delivery, if their mother is sick. Diseased puppies yelp and squeak, backwardness is observed in them as a consequence, they do not put on weight anymore, i.e. are not able to suck the milk. More often than not they are doomed to death. If female bears more than 6 puppies, one will have to work hard and arm oneself with great patience in order to them to have proper conditions for full development. It will be necessary to nurse the puppies on a double-shift basis; therefore there must be an extra box where half of the puppies will be placed so that to expect their turn..
